John C. Martin, Esq.

Founder & Partner

John C. Martin, a partner with the firm  Lister, Martin & Thompson, LLP has devoted his vast years of practice to defending claims involving disability discrimination, other alleged em­ployer misconduct, and workers’ compensation. Mr. Martin primarily represents the interest of self-insured public and private employers in California. He is particularly well regarded as a preventive law specialist relating to terminations and discipline in the disability discrimination field and is renowned for his in­novative approaches to claim resolution. 

 

He is admitted to practice before the Cali­fornia Supreme Court, the Federal District Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. A member of the panel of arbitrators at the WCAB, he is a trained mediator, and periodically serves as Judge Pro-Tem. He received a BA degree in International Relations from UCLA and his Juris Doctor degree in 1969 from Loyola University of Los An­geles.

 

Upon his discharge from military service after serving as a captain in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, Mr. Martin entered private practice in the workers’ compensation field specializing in the defense of employers, particularly those in the public and private sectors which were self-insured. A member of the Bar in California and the District of Columbia, he is also a member of the Italian American Bar Association, the Pasadena Bar Association and Los Angeles County Bar Association where he has served as the Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section. Mr. Martin has served as a law instructor, panelist, and lecturer on topics ranging from ADR to ADA and FEHA as well as topics within the workers’ compensation field.

Mr. Martin joined the Law Offices of Parker & Irwin in January of 2024 as Of Counsel.
