Over a period of 30 years in the Workers’ Compensation system, Mr. Colen acquired an immense amount of experience and compiled an extraordinary record, commencing as a claims adjuster in 1978 and then swiftly moving up in the claims industry becoming a claims supervisor and manager. This ultimately led to his co-founding and serving as President and Chief Financial Officer of a very successful Third Party Administrator, Colen and Lee (now, AdminSure, Inc.) between 1982 and March 2007.
Mr. Colen was born in Breda, Holland (the Netherlands) and he came to the United States with his family in 1955, settling in Norwalk, California. He traded in his wooden shoes for basketball sneakers and baseball cleats while participating in sports in high school and college, and still remains a devoted fan of those sports as well as football. He also enjoys reading, archaeology and biblical studies. He attended California State University at Fullerton and is a State certified Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrator (WCCA) having completed the certification program through the Insurance Education Association (IEA). He has also completed advanced workers compensation courses including permanent disability rating and medical management through various sources. Mr. Colen has served as a speaker at numerous forums over the length of his career where he has demonstrated the depth of knowledge that he has acquired with respect to workers compensation issues. In 2007, Mr. Colen sold his interest in the claims administration firm he helped found and commenced a new career with our firm. He has been designated a “Workers’ Compensation Specialist” and is primarily responsible for assistance in preparation of our litigation files, research, lien negotiations and conference appearances at the board. He also serves as a valuable member of our client liaison team and as an in-depth source of knowledge for consultation by our attorneys, our paralegal staff and our clients. With the addition of Mr. Colen to our professional staff, we are able to substantially enhance our capability to continue to provide our clients with the exceptional level of professional representation and assistance in the workers compensation field that we have pledged.
