Dennis J. Baker, an associate with the firm, has devoted his practice to the defense of employers, and insurance carriers in the field of workers' compensation. Mr. Baker has tried hundreds of workers' compensation cases and has a wealth of appellate experience as well. In 1998, Mr. Baker was successful in defending a favorable verdict upholding the principle of the non-compensibility of a psychiatric disability on the basis of good faith personnel actions through the appellate process including an appeal to the California Supreme Court.
Mr. Baker has been a lecturer and panel member at a number of continuing education programs and at employer seminars on workers' compensation topics. He has also served as a Workers' Compensation Judge Pro Tem at Santa Monica and Van Nuys Workers' Compensation Appeals Boards. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in the field of psychology from the University of California, Irvine and his Juris Doctor degree from Golden Gate University in 1983. He was admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court and the Federal District Court in 1984. Mr. Baker joined our firm in September of 1998. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Baker was a partner at the law firm of Salcedo, De La Loza and Baker. He was also a partner with the firm of Zonni, Ginnochio and Taylor where he worked for ten years.
